Top 10 List: Blogs and Podcasts

Below I have composed a list of my top 10 picks for blogs and podcasts related to personality disorders and how they might be a useful resource for clients. Enjoy!


  1. Healing from BPD

    This blog recounts one woman’s journey out of “hell” and into healing from Borderline Personality Disorder through Dialectical Behavior Therapy. I rate this blog a 5 out of 5 stars because it not only shares personal stories of overcoming BPD but also provides resources, chat rooms and suggested self-help books for people struggling with BPD. This blog would be an encouraging resource for people newly diagnosed with BPD as it provides a hopeful and positive outlook on working toward healing from BPD.

  2. Borderline Personality Disorder Inside Out

    In this blog, life coach A.J. Mahari discusses the “mysteries” of BPD for those diagnosed with the disorder and for BPD loved ones. I rate this blog 5 out of 5 stars as the information contained in it is provided by a professional who delivers information about BPD as well as information about additional resources. This blog is great for clients diagnosed with BPD as well as clients who have family members diagnosed with BPD as it provides factual information while promoting a sense of empowerment.

  3. Lines from the Border

    This blog combines the concerns of families who have members that have been diagnosed as having Borderline Personality Disorder or Narcissistic Personality Disorder and provides support and resources for families struggling through these disorders. I rate this blog 5 out of 5 as it provides information and discussion on a wide variety of topics related to BPD and NPD such as the latest research and available community resources. This blog is a great resource for clients who have family members diagnosed with BPD or NPD. It provides information on books for further reading, insightful posts and is linked to a full website that provides resources including links for finding support groups and a crisis call line.

  4. Wise Counsel Podcasts

    In this podcast, Joel Paris, MD is interviewed on the types of therapeutic interventions effective for treating Borderline Personality Disorder. I rate this podcast 5 out of 5 stars as it is comes from a credible sources and provides an overview and discussion of varying types of treatment modalities found to be effective in treating BPD.

  5. Narcissism and Relationships Blog

    In this blog, the focus is on promoting empowerment and healing related to being in a relationship with a person with Narcissistic Personality Disorder. I rate this blog 4 out of 5 stars because it provides helpful insights on how to change painful patterns in relationships and information about Narcissistic Personality Disorder from someone with previous experience with being in a relationship with a Narcissist. This blog is a helpful resource recommended for clients who may be experiencing emotional pain due to being in a relationship with a Narcissist. It promotes empowerment and a point of reference for people who can related to the author, Melanie’s, experiences with relational turmoil.

  6. The Social Work Podcast

    This podcast is an interview with, Sabrina Heller, a social worker who discusses Dialectic Behavior Therapy (DBT) which is an evidence-based cognitive-behavioral therapy that has been to be effective in treating Borderline Personality Disorder. I rate this blog 4 out of 5 stars, as it discusses  he development of DBT as well as what is addressed during therapy. This information would be helpful for clients to prepare them for what to expect during therapy or for family members of a person going through DBT.

  7. Beyond the Borderline Personality

    This blog is authored by an individual diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder who discusses her personal journey and experiences living with BPD. I rate this blog 4 out of 5 stars as the content is engaging and provides insight into the personal experience of a person with BPD and the coping strategies she has learned in long term therapy. This blog would be helpful for clients diagnosed with BPD as a way to identify with someone else with the disorder and receive ideas for coping strategies that have worked for someone else with BPD.

  8. Narcissism, Narcissistic Injury

    In this podcast, Maxon McDowell, PhD, who is a Jungian analyst/therapist in New York, talks about Narcissistic Personality Disorder, narcissistic injury and therapy. I rate this podcast 4 out of 5 stars as it provides an interesting and informative perspective on narcissism.  This podcast is great for clients who want to learn more about Narcissism from a reliable and interesting source.

  9. Living with Histrionic Personality Disorder

    This blog is authored by a husband and wife and is dedicated to the discussion of Histrionic Personality Disorder in the context of relationships and offers advice, opinion and the latest research on HPD. This blog could be helpful for people struggling with HPD in that it helps to normalize symptoms and encourages people to start the conversation of managing symptoms and seeking professional help. I rate this blog 3 out 5 stars as it is interesting and shares important information about HPD, however, clients would be cautioned to follow advice posted on the blog as it does not come from a licensed professional.

  10. Living with Avoidant Personality Disorder

    This blog discusses the life and the community outreach efforts of one individual diagnosed with Avoidant Personality Disorder. I rate this blog 3 out 5 stars as the author not only provides information on Avoidant Personality Disorder but also runs community support groups for people diagnosed with Avoidant Personality Disorder and post information about attending the groups on the blog. This blog would be great for clients with an APD diagnosis because it would provide a point of reference for them form someone who shares similar struggles and is reaching out into the community to help others in an inspiring way.
